Your Assignment is Over

Your Assignment Is Over..In 2013, I started a new job with a great company. The pay and benefits were excellent. While I was nervous because I was starting a new chapter in my life, it ended up being one of the best jobs I ever had. I worked as an Office Manager in their 2nd location which opened after Hurricane Katrina caused disruption in their New Orleans office. In this role, I was afforded opportunities that I had always desired. So you can imagine my disappointment when I learned that they would be closing my office and I would lose my job. The company had 22 regional offices and decided to close 11 of them. I was heartbroken.

One day during the last few months of employment, I was talking to the Lord. I asked Him to make a way for me to keep my job or put me in the path of leaders who may be able to get me another position. I heard a still small voice say “Your assignment is over”. “Assignment”, I whispered. “Lord, I did not know I was on assignment. How did I do? Did I pass?” These were questions that I asked the Lord. Later that day, a friend whose job had also been impacted, called me. When she told a prominent employee in this company that the office was closing they remarked, “I do not care about anyone but Tahnee. It was only when she started that the company started treating us with respect.” Friends, that was my answer from God. It was then that I understood, my assignment was truly over!

While job loss is no fun, it is not the end. We must remember that God is in control. The Bible says, “Promotion does not come from the east, nor the west, nor the south. But God is the judge. He putteth down one and setteth up another”. (Psalm 75:6-7) Years later, I see clearly how God orchestrated my movements. He moved me from that job into another position where I have been able to share Christ to countless men and women. One young couple even joined my church. Additionally, I’ve learned some great skills that I am using in the furtherance of the Gospel of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Friends, are you facing a difficult time right now? If so, don’t give up. I encourage you to seek the face of God. Consulting loved ones and friends is admirable but consulting God is true wisdom. He will never lead you astray. You can talk to God about anything. He is a wonderful counselor and the Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6). Just go to God in humility and sincerity and share your cares with Him. Ask Him to forgive you or your sins and to help you make sense of the things going on in your life. I can testify that he will make the blurry areas clear. Friends, God is the answer.

I currently work for another amazing company and have been able to bless many people. I am so thankful and I will never forget how God so graciously and lovingly guided me during my time of distress. He will do the same for you. Trust him!

For God’s Glory,

Tahnee
