Be The Church

One rainy Saturday morning, I was headed to a church service where I was the guest speaker. I passed a young lady walking in the rain. I felt prompted to go back and pick her up. I remember thinking, “I will be late for church if I pick her up. Then I remembered a message I heard years ago, “Don’t miss the church on your way to church”. I turned around and picked her up. We introduced ourselves and she asked if I could take her to the store then drop her at her parent’s home. I did as she asked. While riding she shared her story. She was a hard-working young lady who recently fell on hard times and just needed a little help. As we reached her parent’s home, I felt prompted to give her some money. She was so excited and told me that she prayed earlier that day for that exact amount. We hugged, exchanged phone numbers, and parted ways.

I made it to church and had a glorious time in the Lord. Later that week, she called and needed additional assistance. I remember thinking, “Goodness, I did not sign up for this”. Then, I heard within my spirit, “I just need to use your hands and feet for a little while”. So, for the next few months, I interacted with her – helping her as needed. Then just as suddenly as she was there, she was gone. Several months passed, then one day she stopped by my job. She was wearing her nursing scrubs and came by to say hi. She was doing well and was back on her feet. We talked, prayed, and parted ways again. Friends, that was more than 15 years ago and she is still doing well.

Friends, God is a giving God and he wants us to be the same. I learned a long time ago that a closed fist cannot give out, but it also cannot receive. God blesses us so that we can bless others.(Acts 20:35) We are His hands and feet. God used these interactions to share His love. See, after a few chats, I was able to share the gospel with my friend. While she knew the Lord Jesus, she had lost faith and had begun to question God’s love for her. I was able to assure her that God still loved her because I told her that it was Him who told me to turn around. God used me to help renew her faith in Him. Oh what a blessing to be used by God!

Friends, can God use you? Are you sensitive to His voice? Do you hear Him when He speaks and are you obedient? If not, follow these few simple guidelines. First, read His word. It is in His word that we learn about His ways, His character, what He loves, and what He hates. He speaks through the volume of the book. (Hebrews 10:7) Second, as you read, meditate. This simply means think about what you read; ponder it. Third, pray. Pray about what you read. Was there anything in what you read that really spoke to you? Anything you need to change in your life? Any guidance? Fourth and finally, act on what He said. The bible says, “Faith without works is dead”. (James 2:14-26) Don’t just be a hearer only, but a doer of his Holy word. (James 1:22)

I love you my friend and I pray that God is using you for His glory and would love to know how. Reach out at [email protected] or go to the contact us page.
