Thank you, God!
My husband and I have been married for almost 30 years. We spent the better part of our marriage in a small family home that needed a little work. Most of those years, I desired a new home, but we never made strides to get one and honestly, I do not know why. Well years later, I began to have an even stronger desire for a new home. I prayed and worked harder, but it never manifested. I became discontented. As I looked around, all I could see were the problems.
One day while talking to God about it, my spiritual eyes were opened. I recall thinking how truly blessed I was. I was blessed with an amazing husband, two beautiful girls, and awesome extended family and friends. I was warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I had a good job with health benefits, a car, and plenty of food to eat. I was able to walk, talk, see, hear, taste, feel, and smell. I was college educated and had worked for some amazing companies. But more importantly, I was saved. After saving me, God gave me the gift of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me every day. I realized that I had the love and protection of an amazing heavenly Father who loved me enough to send his only Son to die for me.
As I meditated on the blessings, I forgot about problems. I dropped to my knees to repent of my discontent. In that moment, I understood that just as we can always find something to complain about, we can always find something to be thankful about. It is simply a matter of changing our focus.
Friends, God loves to hear from His children, especially grateful children. Scripture teaches that God inhabits or dwells in our praise (Psalm 22:3). Think of it like this; giving thanks is an invitation to God to come and sit with you. Who doesn’t want God to sit with them? When God is present, so is everything that the He embodies—love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, patience, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control. He brings grace and mercy and enables us to think clearly and make decisions that please him. I am grateful for all God has done for me. Are you? If so, please join me in giving God the praise and thanksgiving that He deserves.
For God’s Glory,
Tahnee
Enjoyed meeting you today. Thanks for all the socks!
I read your first story and so totally agree. We have so much to be thankful for. God is nature and he is with us every day, every minute, every second. All we need to do is take the time to look, see and feel! Then we will realize our true blessings! Keep sharing!!
Very well said! Thank you, I will!
